What's your typical process for working with a new client?
Our work starts as soon as you reach out to us. We take the initial phone call or email submission seriously, as it really helps in the decision to match a particular tutor to your student. In general, we make sure to select a tutor whose tutoring style is a match, rather than go strictly by that tutor’s resume.
What types of clients have you worked with?
Planting Seeds Tutoring improves students’ grades in core classes, as well as provides instruction for high-stakes college admissions test. In addition, we’ve worked with all grades (Kindergarten to 12th, undergraduate students, graduate students, etc.) and all educational situations: last-minute test prep, adult students going back to school, and of course, traditional K-12 students.
Do you work with students who have learning disabilities?
We work with any student who have learning disabilities (dysgraphia, dyslexia, ADD, ADHD, learning processing disorders, and more). We provide an abundance of resources that are beneficial for student’s growth during our lesson plans. In addition, our tutors have experience working with students with learning disabilities and our given additional training to work with the students. Our job for all students is to make them INDEPENDENT LEARNERS!
What kind of training do Planting Seeds' tutors have?
Our tutors make us who we are! Trained and certified in instructional techniques, each tutor has his or her own expertise and understands the schools curriculum — ensuring your child will be more successful in the classroom. Outside of the training we also provide mentoring and support. We know students may need a confidence booster or someone to look up to who can provide leadership and guidance.
Besides tutoring, what else can Planting Seeds offer students?
Our motto says it all: “Passionate Learning is the Seed to Growth”. We believe if the student is passionate about learning subjects then they will continuously grow within the classroom. In addition, we also believe in developing students outside the classroom through mentoring and leadership. We pride ourselves in showing students how to become successful in all phases of life. We like to create an atmosphere of “Big Brother/Big Sister” that allows each student to feel comfortable with us and have fun because learning is fun!
Where do I meet with my tutor?
We offer convenient and affordable in-home tutoring for students. This allows students and parents to work from the comfort of their home and allows us to fit right in your busy schedule. Our tutors are also available to meet in public locations such as coffee shops, libraries, schools and community centers.
How will I know that my child is really making progress?
Results are important to us, so our tutors are available to share progress reports and to schedule regular monthly conferences to keep you in the loop. Our resources and weekly assessments allow us to identify what each student is struggling with and through consistent practice we fix the problem. In addition, our relationship with the parents and teachers allow us to engage and gain more information on how the student is progressing.
How do I pay for tutoring sessions?
We accept payments for our tutoring sessions on our website. Click on the “Make a Payment” button under the “Engage With Us”. From there, you will need to fill out our Payment Form. After that, click on the PayPal logo & be directed to the checkout page on the PayPal website. Finalize your payment as a Paypal member or guest using your Paypal balance or credit card.
How often does a student need to attend?
We require students have a minimum of (2) tutoring sessions per week. This way we can get the most out of each student and they are given all the necessary help offered. On average, Two or five tutoring sessions per week are recommended in order for a student to see progress, but we know juggling a loaded work schedule or whole family’s activities in any given week can make that seem almost impossible! To help that problem, we offer convenient after-school, evening and weekend sessions. But talk to us if you’re still finding it hard to schedule sessions — we’ll work together to create a schedule that works with you and your family.
How much does tutoring cost?
We charge between $35-$50 per hour depending on the subject and grade level.
Do you offer tutoring packages?
Yes, we do offer tutoring packages. The more packages a student purchases, the bigger the discount. Tutoring packages are dependent upon the grade & subject the student is currently taking. Please contact us for details on our tutoring packages.
